Type Builds Character
About
Another project from my second year at the University of Westminster, was to choose two typefaces, one serif and another sans-serif and experiment with line feed and with the text from Erik Spiekermann’s essay “Type Builds Character”.
The typefaces I chose was Gill Sans and Georgia. They are well known and common typefaces. Within the line feed chapters I explored how leading, tracking, and kerning works and showcased the weights of the typefaces.
When it came to experimenting with the layout of Erik Spiekermann’s essay, I decided to create some pages that looked more conventional and also include some unconventional ones.
